THATcamp PNW: 10/23-24 University of Washington

THATCamp PNW is coming to Seattle next October 23-24. Applications, especially from PNW scholars, are being sought by June 7 2010. The Humanities And Technology Camp is a two-day event where humanities and technology students, scholars, professionals, and dabblers convene to discuss the intersection of humanities research and technology, demo new projects, and learn more about digital humanities scholarship and programs in the Pacific Northwest region.

Learn more about THATCamp PNW 2010 at the University of Washington at http://www.thatcamppnw.org. You may also contact organizers Paige Morgan and Jentery Sayers (PhD Candidates, Department of English) at thatcamppnw@gmail.com.

The first THATCamp PNW was hosted by Washington State University in Pullman in October 2009, and had participants from the University of Washington, Eastern Washington University, the University of Idaho, Boise State University, and the Washington Digital Archives. THATCamp PNW 2010 will include participants from throughout the Pacific Northwest region, including Canada. Thanks to the Simpson Center from the Humanities and the Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington, THATCamp PNW 2010 has no conference or registration fees.

THATCamp is a participant-driven “unconference”—check your papers and suits at the door, and just be ready to talk about the work you’re doing, the work you want to do, how you might collaborate with others, and how you can help and be helped by a community dedicated to the intersection and integration of the humanities and technology.

Conversations at THATCamp might address collaboration between professors, librarians, archivists and scholars; humanities-related programming and software development; issues related to digital curation; technology and pedagogy; and digital art and literature — to name just a few possibilities.  Graduate students, faculty and staff, non-academic professionals, and independent scholars may attend.

THATcamp PNW can accept 80 campers. All prospective participants should complete a brief application available at the website. Applications are due by June 7, and participants will be notified of acceptance by June 28th.
